Peggi Kroll-Roberts is one of my all time favorite artists. I've been fortunate enough to take a weekend course by her......and I am signed up for another in April. She has an AMAZING eye for color, shapes and most importantly values. The term "value" means the relative lightness or darkness of colors. Values range by the amount of grey in a color. She teaches that as long as you have your values right, your colors can be off. Her painting style is so unique and inspiring to me. I always attempt to duplicate on canvas what my eyes see.......and then I get frustrated because I cannot do so and then I fail to complete thepainting. After a couple classes with Peggi I started seeing things much different than before. Instead of the overall picture, I saw shapes and how they correlate to one another, as well as light and darkness and how they play off eachother.
I am counting the days until her next workshop, at the Knowlton Art Gallery in April.
This was one of the paintings I completed in her workshop. I gave it to my friend Natalie as a gift for her kitchen wall.
I will add a clearer pictures later as well as other paintings i've done under her instruction :)
